Police are warning residents to be wary of a group of bogus callers who have been targeting homes in the area.
The group, who may be “Irish travellers” and are of “stocky build”, according to police, have been knocking on doors claiming there is damp in the loft and asking for a deposit of £2,000 towards the “machinery” they’d need to check for any problems.
They have also been telling householders that their drains are blocked and offering to fix the problem for £50.
The group ask for a phone number and say their manager will be in touch.
Police have warned residents not to hand over any money or let these people into their homes.
