Harrow’s first foodbank appeals for donations

Harrow’s first foodbank is launching next month and is appealing for donations from local people.

The foodbank will be based at Holy Trinity Church in Wealdstone and provide emergency food to local families in crisis.

It will rely on items of non-perishable food being donated, which are then made into food parcels to provide three days’ of food to those in need.

There will be a collection point at reception in the Civic Centre on Station Road until Friday, May 24.

Residents who want to get involved are being asked to contribute items from this shopping list:

Powdered or UHT milk

Tinned meat, fish, vegetables or fruit

Fruit juice (long life cartons)

Soup

Cereals

Pasta sauces

Tinned rice pudding or sponge pudding

Instant coffee/hot chocolate

Instant mashed potato

Noodles

Peanut butter

Biscuits or snack bars

Lentils and pulses

Cash donations are also welcome and the foodbank is also on the lookout for volunteers.

The aim is to set up a network of foodbanks around Harrow. For more information click here or email info@harrow.foodbank.org.uk or call 020 8863 6131 (office staffed part-time).
