HCRA welcomes new chairperson

Frognal Avenue resident Brett Lake-Benson has been elected the new chair of HCRA.

He took over the role from outgoing chair Helen Webster at the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) last night.

Brett is used to tackling local issues as one of Harrow Council’s official “neighbourhood champions”.

The AGM featured elections to other committee posts and a report on the previous year. Key achievements included staging another successful “dump run” and work to tackle speeding cars, illegal parking and fly-tipping.

The association also agreed its three key goals for 2014, which are to publish two newsletters, stage another “dump run”, and to try and improve communication with all residents in our three roads.

Helen, who will continue as a committee member, was thanked by members for all the hard work she has done.

“I personally think this is such an important thing to be involved in,” she told the meeting. “I know in the big scheme of things it doesn’t seem that way and, of course, we all have our own lives and things we have to do.

“But what is we do is important and does make a difference to people’s lives.”

HCRA annual general meeting on Jan 30

HCRA is holding its annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday, January 30, and residents from our three roads are invited to attend.

The AGM will be at 10 Rosslyn Crescent from 8pm and features a report on our activities in 2013 as well as the chance to set goals for the year ahead.

There will also be elections to the HCRA committee. The association is always looking for new committee members and anyone can put themselves forward for a committee post.

The main roles are chair, deputy chair, treasurer, secretary, events co-ordinator, newsletter and website editor. We can also elect any number of “ordinary” committee members.

For more information about any of these roles or the AGM please email chair@hcra.org.uk or call deputy chair Jo Stephenson on 020 8427 4121.
