Harrow Council has launched a campaign to ban spitting in public places across the borough.

The plan is to introduce a by-law that would mean anyone caught spitting in public could be fined.

The council is gathering support from residents in the form of an anti-spitting petition.

The document can be signed online here, at any of the libraries in the borough or at the Civic Centre. The closing date for signatures is April 30.
