Residents are mystified by the unexpected closure of the “CostCutter” shop on the corner of Rosslyn Crescent and Station Road.
The shop has been closed for several days despite a sign on its door that it will be open “from Monday afternoon”.
The shop was part of the CostCutter franchise but HCRA was recently told by head office that the store was no longer part of the chain despite the fact it still displayed CostCutter signage
Shop managers said they hoped to be taken on by another convenience store umbrella group – Nisa.
HCRA has been lobbying the store to tidy up the scruffy area outside and volunteers have been gardening the flowerbeds.
The shop – which is normally open seven days a week – has not give a reason for being closed.
