Local police report fall in crime

Crime in Harrow has fallen over the past year, according to local police.

The borough has seen a 13.3 per cent reduction in burglaries meaning 243 fewer victims.

Robberies have gone down by 10.3 per cent or 36 fewer victimes while there has been an eight per cent reduction in car crime or 111 fewer victims.

Greenhill Local Policing Team will be visiting our roads to provide crime prevention advice and do home security checks.

They have already been to Woodlands and will be in Rosslyn Crescent on September 5 from 12-1pm and in Frognal on Septemvber 19 from 4-5pm.

Mugging in Woodlands

Residents have been urged to keep expensive devices out of sight late at night after a young man was mugged in Woodlands Road.

The victim, who is in his early 20s, was confronted by a group of four youths wielding knives and bricks, who snatched his Iphone 6.

The mugging took place at 11.30pm on Sunday night and the gang has since been apprehended by police.

Meanwhile the family of young man who was attacked have urged others to take care when carrying desirable technology like mobile phones and tablets, which may attract thieves.
