Help us pay for plants to make our neighbourhood greener

HCRA is appealing for donations to help pay for plants for the community garden outside the Nisa convenience store.

Volunteers have so far helped raise nearly £3,000 towards the cost of creating the garden, which has been supported by local organisations and businesses such as Travis Perkins, Harrow in LEAF and the Jaspar Foundation.

But we still need at least £500 more towards the cost of plants that will transform the site into welcome corner of green in an otherwise built-up area.

You can donate direct to the project via PayPal by clicking here.

Alternatively you can write a cheque to HCRA and deliver it to 10 Rosslyn Crescent or 19 Woodlands Road.

There is also a collecting tin in the Nisa shop and we will also be collecting donations door-to-door in the near future.

Local firm donates soil for community garden

A local firm has boosted our efforts to create a community garden outside the Nisa shop in Rosslyn Crescent by donating 18 tonnes of soil.

Nearby Travis Perkins stores have pledged to supply the soil which will be used to fill raised beds outside the shop.

HCRA is now seeking volunteers with shovels and wheelbarrows to help out at its big Soil Shift weekend this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday – 18,19, 20 September.

Neighbours will be on site from 10am on Friday and Saturday to ferry the soil from large bags into the lined, wooden containers. The work may continue on Sunday.

If you can help then email or call 020 8427 4121 or 07516 402025.

We also need help from someone with a vehicle to help shift some heavy stone and concrete ballast on Thursday night.
